Apart from his hundreds of church cantatas, Johann Sebastian Bach wrote secular cantatas in Weimar, Köthen and Leipzig, for instance for members of the Royal-Polish and Prince-electoral Saxonian family (e.g. Trauer-Ode), or other public or private occasions (e.g. Hunting Cantata). The text of these cantatas was occasionally in dialect (e.g. Peasant Cantata) or in Italian (e.g. Amore traditore).

3. The reason for the title, "Bach in Black", is that this CD presents works exclusively in Minor key. Thus, the third and last violin concerto on this disc is the one in A Minor, BWV , but not Bach's other well-known solo violin concerto in E Major.5/5(5).

4. J.S. Bach may have been light on concertos, but when he did compose them he made sure they were special. Here's where to start with his violin concertos. Concertos don't take up a huge amount of room in the Bach canon, and the violin concertos take up even less room. In fact, you can count his completed violin concertos on one hand.

The final fugue, number 21, the longest fugue Bach wrote - which was left unfinished as Bach died prior to its completion - was meant to be a quadruple fugue, i.e. 4 different themes woven together in fugal form, the 3rd theme of which was B-A-C-H (B-flat - A - C - B-natural in German notation), and the 4th which was to be the original theme/5(11).

The Violin Concerto in E major, BWV , by Johann Sebastian Bach is a concerto based on the three-movement Venetian concerto model, albeit with a few unusual features as each movement has "un-Italian characteristics". It is written for violin, strings, and continuo in the following movements. Allegro, meter of, in ritornello form.; Adagio, meter of 3 4, with a ground bass.
